Maria de Jesus Santovenia is a judge of the Eleventh Circuit Court in Florida. She was elected in 2012 and took office on January 8, 2013. Her current term expires in 2019. Santovenia received her B.A. degree from the University of Miami in 1983 and her J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1988. Santovenia began her career as a litigation associate with Lehtinen, O’Donnell, Malman, Cortinas, Vargas & Reiner. A little over two years later, she became a senior litigation associate with Shapiro and Fishman. She spent approximately two years there before joining the Miami Attorney’s Office where she served as an assistant city attorney for 10 years. She then moved to the North Miami Beach City Attorney’s Office, where worked as an assistant city attorney until her judicial election in 2012.
