Marina Garcia-Wood is a Civil Division judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was elected on November 7, 2006 and she took office the following January. She was re-elected in 2012 and her current term expires in January of 2019.
Garcia-Wood received her B.A. degree (in political science) from Florida International University in 1982 and her J.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1986.
Garcia-Wood was admitted to the Bar in 1988. She began her career practicing commercial law at the firm of Walter M. Dingwall. She then moved into matrimonial and family law. She also worked as an Assistant Broward County Attorney. From 2002 to 2006, she was a General Magistrate/Hearing Officer for the 17th Circuit, Juvenile Dependency Division. She was then elected to the circuit court.
