Pedro P. Echarte, Jr. is a judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, Family Division, in Florida. He was appointed by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1998. His current term expires in January of 2019. Echarte was born in Cuba on October 21, 1952. He received his B.A. degree from Florida State University in 1975 and his J.D. degree from the University of Miami in 1979. Echarte has worked as an Assistant Public Defender, as an associate of the law firm of Simon, Schindler & Sandberg, P.A. and as a solo practitioner with his own firm, Pedro P. Echarte, Jr., P.A. He was appointed to the circuit court in 1998, where he has since served on the Criminal, Juvenile and Civil divisions. Echarte was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.
